Taking stock since the tragic passing of founding member and vocalist Mina (aka Silvertongue) earlier this year, South London collective 404 have shared a devastatingly beautiful tribute in ‘Blind Spot’. Featuring Mina’s velvety smooth vocals and poignant lyrics, the spacious single features slick bass lines staccato synth parts and infectious beats courtesy of black midi’s ridiculously talented Morgan Simpson. Blossoming with additional instrumentation as the track progresses, wiry, offbeat guitars add a layer of danceable chaos before opening up into a glacial outro supported by a pumping four to the floor rhythm. Introducing ‘Blind Spot’ via their Facebook page, 404 explained: “Blind Spot is Mina’s song and was recorded not long before she tragically passed away this past May. Mina’s voice will resonate forever.” 404 will support black midi at their forthcoming London and Manchester shows. -Holly Mullineaux
